Yesterday, I shared a recipe honoring my lifelong birthday buddy, Nana.
I was able to preview this absolutely dreamy service long before my birthday (and prior to it being available to the public), and let me just say – it’s the best spa treatment I’ve ever experienced.
The treatment – or should should I say mini vacation? – uses products from the highly regarded Swiss skin care line, Valmont.
Valmont’s history as a clinical brand truly sets their products and spas apart from all the rest. The line is so revered for giving skin a youthful, luminous glow, that some compare the results of a this treatment to having a Botox injection! Obviously, after hearing bold claims like that, I had to check out the treatment as soon as possible. So, up (or in my case, down) to the Upper East Side I traveled.
I checked in at the front desk of the spa, and was escorted to a very spacious private treatment room with a luxurious rain shower, full bathroom facilities, a sitting area, large closet (with a safe), and a massage room.
My esthetician, Miranda, greeted me, and instructed me to change into one of the bathrobes provided.
When she returned, she handed me a custom mixed body scrub and cleanser to use prior to the treatment. I used both products, and took a quick shower, and relaxed in a very comfortable throne-like chair in the seating area.
Miranda then prepared a rose petal dotted foot soak for me, and I enjoyed sipping herbal tea and tasting some sweet snacks while my feet were being pampered.
Following the foot soak, my treatment officially began with a series of twelve steps.
Miranda started with the body treatment that uses fat-burning and smoothing products on the “problem areas” such as legs, arms, and abs. Although I didn’t choose to have the optional body wrap, my skin immediately felt firmer and more refreshed.
Next, Miranda moved on to the more time intensive portion: the signature facial treatment. Ten different miracle products were worked into my skin with a truly magical touch (Valmont calls this the butterfly method) that not only made me fall into the most relaxing slumber, but whipped my dry skin into a heavenly velvet texture.
After what seemed like five minutes (but was really an hour) my treatment was finished, and I lounged in the room for a few minutes to acclimate myself at a slower pace.
When I looked at my skin in the mirror, I saw exactly what the products promised: dewy, supple skin that truly glowed.
The Time Master Subliminating Program, is available only at the Spa at Plaza Athenee New York. The 60 minute treatment is $345, and by appointment only.
