After the Unicorn Latte hysteria last week, there’s never been a better time to skip the sugar-laden frappuccinos and make time for a different kind of coffee date, with #ndmedjooldates. Natural Delights Medjool dates are one of my favorite on the go snacks, but a lot of people overlook these tiny treasures.
What they lack in aesthetic appeal, they make up tenfold in flavor. Caramelly sweet, with a wonderfully rich texture, Medjool dates can be substituted for sugar in many of your best-loved recipes. Since Natural Delights Medjool dates are a low-glycemic food, you will get all the sweetness you crave, without the crash. This is particularly important during the most important meal of the day.
So, how can you incorporate Medjool dates into your coffee? It’s so much easier than you think, and if you are a fan of caramel lattes, you will love this healthy, homemade swap!
- 1 cup Natural Delights Pitted Medjool Dates
- 1/2 cup hot (not boiling) water
- Hot or cold coffee, brewed to your liking
- Milk of your choice
Add pitted Medjool dates and water to a blender and puree until smooth. Depending on the sweetness desired, add between 1 tsp. to 2 tbsp. of the paste to hot or cold coffee. Add ice and/or the milk (or plant milk) of your choice, and serve immediately.
Medjool date puree can be stored in the refrigerator for about a week.
